No cutting, splicing, crimping or soldering. Retain factory configuration. Just plug it in and you are done!

High performance fuel pumps need a good power source in order to perform to their full potential. On average a high-performance fuel pump requires twice as much power as a factory fuel pump. Factory wiring is just enough for a factory pumps power requirements because manufacturers need to save cost and weight. Racetronix field tests have shown that running a high-performance fuel pump off of the factory wiring can cut pump performance by 30% or more. Problems with failing factory relays, connectors/terminals and fuse contacts are also common when excessive load is placed on them.

The Racetronix plug and play harness is designed to remove all fuel pump load from the factory pump circuits while providing the pump with a new heavy-duty power source. The Racetronix harness gets its power directly from the alternator’s battery terminal. The voltage at the alternators output is typically 1-2 volts higher than at the battery when the motor is running (high charge/load conditions and WOT). This means that your high-performance pump can provide as much as 20% more fuel in some cases. The Racetronix harness uses high-quality automotive-grade wire which is resistant to oil, gas, heat and rot. The main length of wire in the Racetronix harness is ten-gauge stranded copper. This is three to four gauges thicker than factory wire which helps reduce resistive power loss to almost non-existent levels. This helps improve pump performance by as much as another 10-20%. (Competitive harnesses typically use wire which is one gauge thinner than ours).?High-quality weatherproof fuse holders and relays are used for maximum reliability.?The Racetronix harness has factory-type weatherproof connectors which plug directly into your fuel pump module/sender so no cutting or splicing is required.

UNIQUE FEATURES:

REDUNDANT GROUNDING SYSTEM:
The Racetronix harness has a redundant ground upgrade as it is necessary to improve the pump’s ground (-) supply as well. The Racetronix redundant ground upgrade clips onto the edge of the gas tank.?Racetronix has integrated the harness ground into the main harness as a one piece assembly.? The ground clip helps improve the tank and pump ground. All grounds (including the factory) are routed back to a common piercing ring terminal which provides direct ground from the large tank strap bolt and body. This provides superior clamping force and grounding. The weatherproof relay shares this mounting location so that no mounting holes must be drilled. Silicon grease is provided to coat the grounding clip and ring terminal in order to prevent corrosion.

Harnesses made by other companies do not have this unique feature but rather they?require you to drill / tap holes in your car to attach a separate ground strap and mount your relay. To make matters worse?they loop the factory ground in and out of the power feed connector?to save the expense of running a dedicated wire. Running two wires into one seal does not allow it to seal properly so moisture could get in and corrode both the factory sender connector and upgrade harness.

The Racetronix harness is covered with Nylon loom (GM spec. GMP.PA6.003, -40?F to 300?F). Nylon loom is more flexible, slicker, shinier and has a higher temperature rating than the PE loom used by other vendors. Nylon loom provides superior protection and eases installation especially in colder climates.

POWER FEED:
Our power feed comes off the back of the alternator where voltage is highest.?It then runs through a weatherproof fuse holder which is mounted on the back of the alternator with a supplied stainless steel bolt. The TR has an unused hole in the back of the alternator which facilitates this fuse holder mounting quite nicely. This location keeps the fuse holder out of sight and the unfused wire down to a short 4 inches.?Our competition’s fuse holder must be remote-mounted requiring self tapping screws / holes. The unfused section of wire extends to the firewall.

Racetronix supplies a spare 20A ATM fuse, 25 black vinyl wire ties, silicon grease and mounting hardware with each kit.

Racetronix harnesses are considered the best by which all others are judged. Attention to detail in every Racetronix harness is evident at first glance. Racetronix spares no expense to ensure reliability, ease of installation and performance.
All Racetronix harnesses are assembled using our computerized crimp-quality monitoring system and then circuit checked for the utmost in reliability. This Racetronix harness is backed by our limited lifetime warranty.

BGK
Some people make the mistake of assuming the thick black wire coming from the battery is a body ground. It is not. It is the motor ground and the motor sits on rubber mounts. Due to the age of the TRs we have seen some body grounds so bad that the lights flicker on the car when in motion. To address this problem Racetronix is offering a battery to body ground upgrade kit. This kit upgrades the thin ground wire running from the battery to the inner side of the passenger’s fender wall.? It includes an 8 gauge copper wire fitted with terminals and battery nuts with accessory taps.. One end attaches to BATTERY – and the other to BODY GROUND. No modifications to the factory battery terminals or boots are required. The new battery nuts have a bolt on top that allows connections to easily be made to the battery. Simply pop the old factory battery nuts out by pushing them out from behind and pop the new ones in. They even look good too.

Q1. Is the Hobbs pressure switch included with the DP system?
A1. A 15PSI Hobbs pressure switch and interface harness are included with the system as standard equipment. 15PSI is the best pressure at which to activate the secondary fuel pump in most Turbo Buicks. Ideally the secondary pump should be activated approximately 100HP shy of the primary pump running out of fuel to prevent pressure spikes or lean conditions. Some customers have computers which can control both pumps via the jumpers (shown in our picture) on our dual harness. Some customers have upgraded return lines and chose to run both pumps all the time. We recommend using either your computer or our Hobbs switch to control the secondary pump. This reduces the electrical load, fuel heating and wear on the secondary pump. The primary and secondary pump may be easily switched by swapping the control jumpers if you wish to balance out the run-time on the pumps. The DP harness comes with both control jumpers plugged in as shown in our ad. In addition to this the DP harness comes with a Weather-Pack connector so you can interface the secondary pump control to your aftermarket computer or any pull-to-ground signal.

Q2. Can other pumps be used in the DP sender as an option?
A2. We offer the RXP255 255LPH and RXP340M/E 340LPH pumps in our DP systems. Only pumps with a 22mm center inlet will fit our hangers and will fit through the tank opening side-by-side. It is a VERY tight fit.?NOTE: WE DO NOT ACCEPT CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED PUMPS TO BE INCORPORATED INTO OUR DP SYSTEM.

Q3. Is this DP system E85 compatible?
A3. The?DFPS-680EQ?DP hanger uses Racetronix RXP340E pumps which are 100% Ethanol and Methanol compatible. True E85 factory certified systems have their electrical connections fully isolated from the fuel which is impossible given the Turbo Buick’s tank design. Modern E85 Flex-Fuel systems are manufactured with special plastics and metals. Fuel system health will impact pump life.

Q4. I have your D-I-Y DP kit on a factory sender and I would like to upgrade / replace the sender. Can I buy the sender with the required parts?
A4. We no longer offer piece parts for DIY applications anymore.

Q5. Can the single Racetronix Hotwire Harness be used to power the new DP system?
A5. No it cannot. The harness for the DP system is very different in almost all aspects.

Q6. Can I buy the entire DP system in a D-I-Y format?
A6. We no longer offer the DP G7 D-I-Y kit.

Q7. I already have some other pumps. Can I use them with your system?
A7.?NOTE: DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH CUSTOMER SUPPLIED PUMPS AND PRODUCTION FLOW ISSUES WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED PUMPS TO BE INCORPORATED INTO OUR DP SYSTEM NOR DO WE OFFER IT LESS PUMPS. ALL DP SYSTEMS ARE SOLD AS COMPLETE TESTED SYSTEMS.

Q8. I have a digital dash car. Do you have a sender for me?
A8. Yes, please specify the digital dash level sender option when ordering your system.

Q9. What size of fuel lines do you recommend with this system?
A9. We recommend conductive Teflon braided -8 feed and a -6 return line. We do not recommend any type of rubber (braided or not) for use with modern-day fuels. These Teflon lines will be more than able to support the full performance of our DP systems. Please view our G7 PnP fuel line kits by clicking?> HERE <

Q10. Where is the biggest restriction in the fuel system?
A10. The factory steel lines running up the front of the motor.

Q11. Is the factory filter able to flow enough for the DP 680LPH system.
A11. A clean factory filter is adequate for two 340LPH pumps however minor contamination at this flow level will have a great impact on performance. We do not recommend most aftermarket cartridge paper filters or SS mesh filters. The idea here is to protect the motor, limit restriction and provide reasonable service life. We offer a fuel line kits with E85 compatible filter assemblies?> HERE <.

Q12. Can I use a volt-booster with your system?
A12. Yes, we recommend a voltage booster for increased system voltage which benefits pump performance.

Q13. What brand of fuel pressure regulator do you recommend?
A13.?Accufab?(factory location / best option) or?Weldon?/?Accel?aftermarket fuel rail configurations.

Q14. Where do I get support and installation information?
A14. All technical and warranty support is now provided by your Racetronix dealer ONLY!

Q15-SPEC. What are the performance specs of the DP system?
A15-SPEC.?These are the typical specs with 2 x 340ELPH pumps:
xxxLPH @ 43.5psi @ 13.5v @ 22.5A
xxxLPH @ 43.5psi @ 16.0v @ 27.5A
xxxLPH @ 58.0psi @ 13.5v @ 24.5A
xxxLPH @ 58.0psi @ 16.0v @ 29.5A
xxxLPH @ 80.0psi @ 13.5v @ 28.0A
xxxLPH @ 80.0psi @ 16.0v @ 32.5A

Q16. How much HP will this system support in a Turbo Buick? (Will it support my HP requirements?)
A16. Multiply your HP by 0.42 which will give you the required fuel in LPH with a 20% safety margin. You must consider the flow at your maximum boost pressure. For example, if you base fuel pressure is 43.5PSI and your your regulator increases 1LB of fuel pressure for every 1LB of boost and you run 20PSI of boost your maximum fuel pressure would be 63.5PSI. Using the flow data above, confirm that the DP system is able to provide the required flow at your maximum fuel pressure and voltage. This calculation does not factor restrictions in the fuel lines. Since the condition of each system tends to vary it is best to run a return flow test at max fuel pressure once the DP is installed to determine if upgrading the fuel lines is required. Note that some Racetronix customers have run mid 8-second 1/4 mile times at 160MPH+ using our 680LPH dual system, deluxe Teflon line kit on race gas.

Q17. Can I upgrade my 510LPH system to a 680LPH system?
A17. The 680LPH system has upgraded wiring from front to back in order to handle the higher power demands of the 340LPH pumps. There is currently no upgrade path for current production 510LPH systems. We do not offer upgraded wiring nor do we recommend running 340LPH pumps in our 510LPH system.

The Wiring Harness aka ‘Hotwire harness’

Racetronix G7B2 kit is bundled with our new #12 billet filter housing and 10-micron stainless-magnetic filter element. A billet aluminum filter bracket is included to mount the filter housing. This assembly will provide the best protection from contaminants reaching your injectors while flowing over 900LPH with minimal pressure drop.

The lines in this kit are stainless steel braid over Teflon. The SS braid offers great durability and a conductive path to dissipate static buildup caused by flowing fuel. The Teflon core is compatible with all fuels such as E-85 and oxygenated race fuels where rubber hose is not and will break down and crack over time. Teflon hose has a lower friction coefficient than rubber hose so it will flow better given the same inner diameter. Teflon has very low permeability so it will not allow vapors to escape like rubber hose so you can say goodbye to that constant smell of gas fumes in your garage. After much flow testing we have found that a -8 feed and -6 return line provide more than enough flow capacity to support our dual in-tank fuel systems at flow rates in excess of 900LPH.

Some of the most restrictive parts in the TR fuel system are the factory Saginaw (metric) fittings. While the internally seated o-rings provide a reliable seal, they are very restrictive by design.?Off-the-shelf adapter fittings?are also very restrictive because they rely on the same sealing mechanism that limits the maximum internal diameter of the fitting. To get around this problem, Racetronix manufactures custom metric hose fittings to fit the factory TR fuel rail that allows for maximum flow and a positive seal. A custom Racetronix 90? high-flow low-profile swivel fitting connects to the discharge of a factory-type regulator. This fitting provides maximum flow and enough clearance for the intake runners.

A 90? gauge adapter is included along with a Racetronix 2″ liquid-filled 100PSI fuel pressure gauge to mount on the factory test port.

All Racetronix fuel lines are pressure / leak tested for maximum reliability.

1. Racetronix recommends the use of an Accufab regulator. These regulators have proven to be ultra-reliable, stable and do not bleed down. We stock replacement diaphragm assemblies for both the new and old-style valve designs.
